One of the coolest aspects to being a wedding photographer in a country like Australia is that you get to experience many different cultural traditions. Usually I’m an observer, but for Daniel and Nora’s wedding I was involved in a way. It was a small gesture, but it stayed with me so much that I have been telling the story to everyone.
The groom’s side is from Macedonia, so the festivities started nice and early. Amongst the people working there was a caterer, a four piece band, a videographer and myself.
At one point, the groom’s mother came out with a bunch of towels, and gave us one each by placing it over our shoulder.
We were the ones working, and it was the nicest gesture of appreciation I had experienced.
To me, it said: “Thank you for your hard work. Take this so to wipe the sweat of your braw.”
It made my day!
